It is to my dismay upon reading that yet another breach in the Pajaro River Levee has occurred. This has happened numerous times through the years resulting in floods that have inundated the area. The repairs amounted to nothing more than a band-aid.
Following the 1995 event, this should have been rectified not with more soil or rock but with concrete linings similar to a large canal or aqueduct in the 12 miles it runs bisecting the Watsonville and Pajaro areas. I think that despite the cost, it would have prevented this catastrophe. Hopefully the powers that be will consider this idea.
