PVUSD board missteps
To the Editor,
Yes, I filed a Brown Act violation to the District Attorney because taking it to the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees, five of which were involved, would have been fruitless. Was it a social gathering to improve relations or what?
If this was a social get-together, why were the two, long-term trustees left out? The attendees were all PVFT union backed and the two missing were not. This does not pass the smell test.
Trustee Acosta missed 16 meetings her first two years, roughly 40 percent of the meetings. Why did she run for the board if she was not going to be part of the board’s activities?
Some may say that I am being overly critical. View the videos of the board meetings to see what I saw. So why does the trustee all of a sudden become the den mother to get some of the trustees together and not all of them?
That is why I filed the complaint. Public officials need to be held accountable. These five knew that they were doing something that would look bad, so why do it? This fails the smell test.

Venus with Mars
A wooden home where love is found
And hearts of stone make not a sound
Love lives as pearls formed by time
In our peaceful home under heaven’s eyes
Unfolding rapture of boundless love
A pure delight as whitest doves
Your emerald eyes so full of light
Thrill my kindled heart on moonless nights
Holding the key to my guarded soul
You turn the lock as good as gold
I feel so aglow from all your charm
So exquisite, arm in arm
I thrive on your loving ways
And adoring angels kiss our carefree days
Cherishing the sunny Saturday we made vows
I loved you then and treasure you now
Let’s tally the time God graciously gives
In our temples of sculpted clay where he lives
For our lovely marriage is well above par
Like lofty Venus so enraptured with Mars

No one left to speak out
With apologies to Martin Niemoller.
First they came for the Muslims,
I remained silent.
I was not a Muslim.
When they hunted down and locked up the immigrants,
I remained silent.
I was not an immigrant.
When they locked up the immigrants’ children,
I remained silent.
They weren’t my kids.
When they came for truth and the journalists,
I did not speak out.
I was not a journalist. Maybe it was fake news.
When they came for me,
There was no one left to speak out.
