WATSONVILLE — A man was taken into custody and two loaded guns were recovered in a car stop and foot pursuit Wednesday on Blackburn Court around 12:15 p.m.
Sgt. Juan Trujillo of Watsonville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit said the incident began when an officer noticed a reckless driver on nearby Lincoln Street and Riverside Drive. When cornered on Blackburn Court, across from Watsonville High School’s baseball field, the suspect abandoned his blue Toyota pickup and took off on foot.
The suspect, a male Watsonville resident in his 20s, was arrested within minutes.
Officer Robert Padilla and his K-9 “Buddy” of the California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene to search the older model beat-up Toyota. A handgun, a revolver and marijuana were discovered inside.
