The Aptos High Mariners girl’s golf team won its fourth straight Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League championship on Thursday night with a 128-142 win over Scotts Valley High at DeLaveaga Golf Course in Santa Cruz.
Megan Eldredge (28), Amanda Fort (29), Gianna Marinshaw (35) and Italia Riccabona (36) all scored for Aptos, which finished a perfect 8-0 on the year.
The Mariners are scheduled to play in the upcoming SCCAL individual championships, which will also serve as the league’s Central Coast Section qualifier, on Tuesday at 1 p.m. back at DeLaveaga Golf Course.
Fort, a senior, is the defending SCCAL champion.

GIRL’S CROSS COUNTRY
• Ruiz sweeps Center Meets – Layla Ruiz took first in the third and final Monterey Bay League Pacific division Center Meet of the season on Wednesday at Pinto Lake County Park in Watsonville.
Ruiz, a freshman, completed the 3-mile run in 18 minutes, 57.1 seconds. Senior Daniela Salazar followed her teammate in second with a time of 19:39.1.
The Wildcatz took third as a team with a score of 86. Gilroy High won the meet (29) and Monterey was second (83).
Pajaro Valley finished fourth (93) as a team and Monte Vista Christian placed sixth (137).
M.V.C. sophomore Sophia Willoughby finished fifth (20:32.1) as an individual.
Pajaro Valley freshman Karen Martinez was the Grizzlies’ top finisher (13th, 22:48.5).
• Mora leads N.M.C. – North Monterey County High junior Faith Mora took eighth at the third and Condors finished third in final Monterey Bay League Gabilan division Center Meet of season on Wednesday afternoon at Natividad Creek Park in Salinas.
Mora finished the 3-mile race in 19 minutes, 28 seconds and the Condors (78) trailed first place San Benito (62) and second place Salinas High (70) as a team.
Andrea Villegas (16th, 20:15), Daniela Munoz (20:23), Sarah Delgado (20:27) and Cristal Baeza (20:29) also scored for N.M.C.

BOY’S CROSS COUNTRY
• Watsonville takes 2nd in Center Meet – The Watsonville High Wildcatz took second in Wednesday’s Monterey Bay League Pacific division Center Meet at Pinto Lake County Park in Watsonville.
Watsonville junior Jesus Chavez was the team’s top finisher, taking fourth overall in 16 minutes, 55.2 seconds.
Monte Vista Christian took third as a team. Pajaro Valley High finished sixth.
M.V.C. sophomore David Wang led the Mustangs with a seventh-place finish in 17:16.6.
Pajaro Valley senior Luis Leonor (11th, 17:57.5) was the team’s top runner.
• NMC takes 5th – The North Monterey County High Condors finished fifth as a team in the third and final Monterey Bay League Pacific division Center Meet at Natividad Creek Park in Salinas on Wednesday.
Senior Edgar Medina (11th, 16:38) paced the Condors.

WOMEN’S JC VOLLEYBALL
• Cabrillo 3, Hartnell 1 – Bella Bress had 10 kills, 36 assists, 10 digs and three aces, Jolie Samuelson added nine kills, 12 digs and two aces and the Cabrillo College Seahawks beat Hartnell College on Wednesday in Coast Conference North division play.
Camryn Rocha finished with 12 kills, Alyssa Nelson chimed in with 18 digs and Rebecca Lee tallied eight kills, three digs and four blocks.

• St. Francis 3, Santa Cruz 1 – The St. Francis High Sharks secured a 25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 25-15 senior night win over Santa Cruz on Wednesday in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action.
St. Francis (17-9, 5-7) honored Emma Ryan, Audrey Ryan, Samantha Bellucci, Madison Orradre, Elena Gonzales, Hailey DiRienzo, Akemi Ito and Viktoria Tripp for senior night.
The Sharks continue SCCAL play on Tuesday at San Lorenzo Valley High at 6:30 p.m.
• Aptos 3, SLV 0 – The Aptos High Mariners inched closer to their fifth straight Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League championship on Thursday night with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 sweep over San Lorenzo Valley High.
Jillian Rodriguez had eight kills, Abbi Saxton added five for the Mariners (10-7, 10-2), who passed with a 2.33 average.
Aptos continues its SCCAL season on Tuesday at Mt. Madonna.
• MVC 3, Alvarez 0 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs swept the Alvarez High Eagles, 25-16, 25-19, 25-15 on Thursday night in Monterey Bay League Gabilan division play.
Mattea Romo had 15 assists, 12 digs, seven kills and six aces for M.V.C. (12-9, 7-3), which plays in the Notre Dame-Belmont tournamnet today.
Malou Oostveen added 11 kills and four blocks, Allie Tillery chimed in with six kills and two blocks and Aleah Rasat finished with nine kills in her first varsity action.
• Seaside 3, PV 1 – Jaqui Lopez had 28 assists and six aces and Julie Che added 15 kills but the Pajaro Valley High Grizzlies still fell 27-29, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 to Seaside in Monterey Bay League Pacific division play on Thursday.
Natalia Gallegos made 12 digs and Isabella Langarica finished with 10 kills for P.V. (12-12, 3-7), which finishes up its league season on Tuesday at North Salinas High.

• Soquel 18, Aptos 2 – The Aptos High Mariners lost their final Monterey Bay League Gabilan division of the season on Thursday at Cabrillo College, falling to league champ Soquel High.
Skylar Poulos scored two goals for Aptos (15-4, 10-2), which plays at the Presentation High Challenge today.

• Soquel 11, Aptos 4 – Beck Escalante scored twice for the Aptos High Mariners in Thursday night’s Monterey Bay League Gabilan division loss to Soquel.
