The Cabrillo College women’s volleyball team won its first Coast Conference North match on Friday night and split a pair of matches at the Foothill Classic on Saturday.

The Seahawks (13-1, 1-0) swept College of San Mateo in CC-N action behind Camryn Rocha’s 17 kills and 11 digs and Mari Molina’s 30 assists and 10 digs.

On Saturday, Cabrillo suffered its first loss of the season against L.A. Pierce College, falling 26-24, 25-23, 25-21, but bounced back in the second match of the weekend against Foothill College with a 25-11, 23-25, 25-8, 25-14 victory.

The Seahawks struggled on offense against L.A. Pierce, recording a .154 kill percentage and making 18 errors on attacks. Jolie Samuelson had 11 kills and Rocha added nine but it wasn’t enough.

Cabrillo was back to its dominant self in the second match against Foothill, hitting at a .312 clip. Rocha had a team-high 15 kills, while Bella Bress added 13 kills, five assists and five digs. Rebecca Lee finished with 12 kills and Molina had a monster game with 38 assists, 11 aces, 12 digs, and four kills.

Cabrillo travels to Monterey Peninsula College on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

GIRL’S VOLLEYBALL

• SHP 3, MVC 2 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs lost 16-25, 23-25, 25-9, 25-15, 15-9 to the Sacred Heart Prep Gators on Saturday in non-league action at home.

M.V.C. (8-8, 3-2) resumes Monterey Bay League Gabilan division play against Notre Dame-Salinas today at 6:30 p.m. in Watsonville.

MEN’S JC SOCCER

• Cabrillo 3, Ohlone 2 – Jose Magana scored in the 77th minute to lift the Cabrillo College Seahawks over the Ohlone College Renegades to their first Coast Conference South division win, Friday on Fry’s Field at Carl Conelly Stadium in Aptos.

Magana also scored in the first half and Walmer Martinez scored as well for Cabrillo (5-2-1, 1-1), which hosts Las Positas College today at 2 p.m.

Steve Lopez made two assists.

GIRL’S CROSS COUNTRY

• Ruiz takes 5th at Westmoor – Watsonville High freshman Layla Ruiz took fifth in Race No. 2 at the Westmoor Ram Invitational on Saturday in Daly City.
Ruiz finished the 2.32-mile course in 14 minutes, 28 seconds.

North Monterey County High also competed at the Ram Invitational but ran in Race No. 1. Junior Faith Mora took 14th (15:15), senior Sarah Delgado was 17th (15:23) and junior Daniela Munoz was 26th (15:41).

BOY’S CROSS COUNTRY

• N.M.C., Watsonville run at Westmoor – The North Monterey County High Condors and Watsonville High Wildcatz both competed at the Westmoor Ram Invitational on Saturday in Daly City.

Edgar Medina was the Condors’ top finisher in Race No. 1, taking 27th in the 2.32-mile course at 12 minutes, 38 seconds.

Jesus Alvarez, meanwhile, led the Wilcdatz in Race No. 2, finishing 43rd (13:05).
