The Cabrillo College Seahawks women’s basketball began its season with a 62-60 win over the College of Marin on Saturday night on the road.

Pauli Pappas had 20 points, six rebounds and three assists. Grace Giguiere nailed five 3-pointers and added 17 points and eight rebounds. Teal Maixner chipped in 12 points and Lauren Lacy grabbed a team-high 11 assists.

Cabrillo (1-0) is off until Nov. 21 when it will travel to Las Positas College in Livermore.

MENS’ JC BASKETBALL

• CCSF 80, Cabrillo 69 – Kobe Ordonio had 28 points and Linton Acliese recorded a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double but the Cabrillo College Seahawks still fell to the City College of San Francisco on Friday night in non-conference action.

Tynan Velasquez added 16 points and five assists for Cabrillo (2-1), which held a one-point lead at the half but couldn’t hang on.

The Seahawks travel to Shasta College in Redding on Friday to play in a three-day tournament. Their first game is against College of the Siskiyous at 2 p.m.

WOMEN’S JC VOLLEYBALL

• Cabrillo 3, Hartnell 0 – The Cabrillo College Seahawks swept the Hartnell College Panthers 25-16, 25-15, 25-14 on Friday night to claim their 11th straight Coast Conference championship outright.

Jolie Samuelson had 12 kills, nine digs, three blocks and three aces for Cabrillo (26-1, 11-0), which finishes up its regular season tonight at home against the City College of San Francisco at 6:30 p.m.

JC FOOTBALL

• Merced 40, Cabrillo 32 – The Cabrillo College Seahawks finished off their season with an American Golden Coast Conference lost to the College of Merced on Saturday night in Aptos.

Cabrillo (2-8) trailed 40-18 early in the fourth quarter but made it a game late with a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Nick Martig.

Martig finished with 380 yards passing, completing 30 of his 50 attempts, with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

He hit Chris Easter, Mitchell Harris, Jermeya Omar and Entebbe Bates for scores.

Terrence Smith ran 16 times for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Cabrillo totaled 494 yards of offense, picked up 23 first downs and converted half of their third downs yet still lost.

Tyree Stricklen made an interception for Cabrillo, which also recovered two fumbles on defense but allowed 441 yards of offense.
