Savanah Quintana had 24 points and seven rebounds in Watsonville High’s 44-36 win over Orem on Wednesday in the first round of the Surf ‘N Slam tournament in San Diego.
Evelyn Rios added nine points and Jenny Vasquez rallied Watsonville (8-2) back from a nine-point halftime deficit with two points, seven rebounds and five steals off the bench.
Watsonville plays North Marion today at noon in the semifinals of the tournament.

G LEAGUE BASKETBALL
• Santa Cruz 115, RGV 112 – Terrence Jones scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and the Santa Cruz Warriors escaped with a close victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday night in Santa Cruz.
Georges Niang tied Jones with a team-high 27 points and the latter added 16 rebounds, five assists and six blocks.
Quinn Cook added 15 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, while Damian Jones, on assignment from Golden State, chipped in 16 points and seven rebounds.
Santa Cruz (12-9) begins a six-game road trip on Saturday against the Erie Bayhawks.
