Pajaro Valley High started its season with an 11-1 preseason win in five innings over Marina High on Wednesday night.

Daivian Quintana went four innings on the mound and struck out 12.

Manny Murillo was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

Pajaro Valley (1-0) plays Trinity Christian on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sollecito Field in Monterey.

• MVC 6, Carmel 0 –  Ian Koenig had two hits, two scored runs and an RBI in Monte Vista Christian’s preseason win on Wednesday afternoon.

Koenig also stuck out five and picked up the victory on the bump for M.V.C. (3-1), which plays at Saratoga High today at 11 a.m.

Jacob Beardsley was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

• PV 3, MVC 0 – Dennar Ocampo had 28 assists, Geovanny Barajas finished with 17 kills and Pajaro Valley High swept Monte Vista Christian, 25-19, 29-27, 25-19, on Thursday in preseason action.

Esteban Fernandez added five kills and two blocks and Daniel Rocha chipped in nine kills for Pajaro Valley (3-0), which plays in the Wilcox Classic today.

J.P. Thrasher had 16 assists, seven digs and four kills, and Riland Wagner totaled 17 kills and seven assists for M.V.C. (1-1), which plays at Scotts Valley High on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

JC SOFTBALL

• MPC 3, Cabrillo 2 – Kasey Sugimoto hit a home run and scored two runs, but Cabrillo College fell in its Coast Conference South division opener on Wednesday afternoon.

Madison Gill drove in Cabrillo’s (4-8, 0-1) other run.

The Seahawks play at Reedley College on Sunday in a double-header starting at 11 a.m.

JC BASEBALL

• Cabrillo 14, De Anza 9 – The Cabrillo College Seahawks exploded for 21 hits and 14 runs in Wednesday afternoon’s win over De Anza College in preseason action.

Jake Keaschall was 4-for-6 with three RBIs and a pair of scored runs. Jonah Shabry finished 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBIs and a scored run. Rob Carling and Ivan Perez doubled.

Cooper Smith had four hits and scored three times, and Kai Moody recorded a trio of singles, two RBIs and two scored runs.

Cabrillo (4-13) host Mission College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
