The Pajaro Valley High boy’s volleyball is moving up.

After winning the program’s first-ever league championship this season, capturing the Monterey Bay League Pacific division title, the coaches from around the MBL decided to move the Grizzlies up to the much-tougher Gabilan division.

In the MBL-G, Pajaro Valley, which went 11-1 in the Pacific this season and made it to the Central Coast Section playoffs for the second straight year, will play against Alisal High, Christopher High, Monterey High, Palma High, Salinas High and two-time undefeated champion Carmel High. The Grizzlies went 4-3 in matches against those teams this season.

San Benito High will take Pajaro Valley’s place in the Pacific.

The Monte Vista Christian boy’s and girl’s swimming and diving teams will also move up to the MBL-Gabilan division, while Alvarez’s teams will move down to the Pacific.

The Mustangs’ boy’s golf team will move down to the Pacific, switching places with Monterey High.

In softball, Salinas, which won the MBL-P title this season, will move up to the Gabilan and North Salinas will drop down to the Pacific.

In boy’s tennis, Palma and Pacific Grove High will swap spots. The latter will drop from the Gabilan while the former moves up from the Pacific.

There was no movement in track and field or baseball.
