The Santa Cruz Red Colt baseball team won the NorCal Coast Regional tournament on Monday at Harvey West Park in Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz Red beat Santa Cruz Blue by forfeit, as the latter was unable to field enough players in a winner-take-all final.
Santa Cruz Red had won three straight games to earn a spot in the championship game. It beat Salinas, Los Gatos Top Flight and Santa Clara B before falling 12-6 to Santa Cruz Blue on Sunday.
Ruben de la Torre was 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the loss. Nathaniel Brouse also went 3-for-3 with two scored runs, an RBI and a stolen base. And Scott Pramuk finished 3-for-4 with a double for Santa Cruz Red, which advances to the NorCal Super Regional at PAL Stadium in San Jose. The Super Regional tournament will conclude on July 23.

• SF City FC 2, SC Breakers 0 – The Santa Cruz Breakers FC completed their first PDL season with a loss on Sunday night at Cabrillo College in Aptos.
Santa Cruz finished the year in fourth place in the Western Conference’s Southwest Division with a 6-6-2 record.

• Rivera lowers ERA – Watsonville High alumnus Chris Rivera lowered his earned run average by tossing a pair of scoreless innings in the GCL Cardinals’ 10-3 win over the GCL National on Monday.
Rivera, who was drafted in the 33rd round of this year’s MLB Draft by the Cardinals, allowed two hits and struck out one to lower his ERA to 5.56 over six appearances.

• Santa Cruz wins 14 title – Santa Cruz PONY completed its undefeated run to the NorCal Coast Regional championship with a 2-0 win over Campbell PONY on Saturday.
Santa Cruz, which won four consecutive games over the course of the tournament, advances to the NorCal Super Regional at the Shoreline Athletic Field in Mountain View. Campbell and Pacific Grove also advanced to the next round.
Watsonville and Mid-County each went 0-2 in the tournament.
