A Santa Cruz man has been arrested on suspicion of drugging a woman at a local bar.

Ashley Keehn, spokeswoman for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, said that on July 19 Christopher Riviello, 33, was arrested on multiple felony charges related to intentionally drugging an individual at a bar. 

This includes poisoning someone’s drink, giving someone drugs to aid in a felony and assault causing great bodily injury.

He was released on his own recognizance for intensive supervision by Pretrial Services, court records showed.

Deputies initially responded to a call on July 16 regarding a woman who suspected she had been drugged several days earlier by another patron at the bar. 

Following an investigation, detectives arrested Riviello at a residence in Santa Cruz.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information regarding the case or other incidents is asked to call the Sheriff’s dispatch at 831.471.1121.
