Man faces attempted murder charges in Watsonville shooting

WATSONVILLE—A 31-year-old Bakersfield man suspected of shooting a 24-year-old Watsonville man multiple times earlier this year was arrested on April 24.

Watsonville Police believe Edgar Patino on Feb. 28 shot a Watsonville resident in the parking lot of the Stone Creek Apartments on 300 Bree Lane and then fled to Bakersfield, where WPD detectives tracked him to and apprehended him.

Patino was identified early on in the investigation as the primary suspect, according to WPD spokesperson Michelle Pulido.

He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $375,000 bail, jail records showed. He has been charged with attempted murder.

The victim of the shooting has since recovered from his injuries, Pulido said.
