Law enforcement officials are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found dead in a vehicle in Aptos early Tuesday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Israel Murillo, officers responded to the Rancho Del Mar Shopping Center parking lot on the corner of Soquel Drive and State Park Drive at about 3:15am for a report of an unconscious male inside a red 1998 Toyota Tacoma.
Upon arrival, CHP officers and Sheriff’s deputies found an unresponsive 68-year-old Aptos man. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel.
The cause of death is still under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are a factor in this death, Murillo said.
