WATSONVILLE — Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Clark has released the name of the man who was shot and killed Dec. 15 at the corner of West Beach Street and Rodriguez Street around 6:30 p.m.

Alejandro Alonzo, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple shots.

No suspects have been located, police said. According to police, Alonzo had been shot several times in the head and torso.

Alonzo has a lengthy criminal past, according to local reports, including a vast history with criminal street gangs.
