WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville man was shot late Thursday night on Ross Avenue.

Watsonville Police Sgt. David Rodriguez said officers responded to the report of a shooting victim at about 9:51 p.m. When they arrived they found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head.

With information provided by the victim, officers quickly found the scene of the shooting to be in the area of Ross Avenue at Ginos Court.

Watsonville Fire Department and American Medical Response paramedics provided emergency medical care to the victim at the scene before he was flown to a nearby trauma facility.

Officers collected evidence and spoke to witnesses in the area.

It appeared the victim was driving eastbound on Ross Avenue when he was confronted by three young Hispanic males, Rodriguez said. As the victim attempted to flee the area, the suspects began to shoot at him, striking him in the head. The victim drove to 7-Eleven on Airport Boulevard seeking help.

The victim has been listed in stable condition.
