WATSONVILLE—A man was shot as he sat in his parked car with his 4-year-old daughter Tuesday evening in Watsonville.

Watsonville Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said a man walked up to the victim’s car on the 200 block of Sudden Street shortly before 6pm and fired several rounds into the car, striking the 29-year-old man in the arm.

The girl was not injured.

Pulido said the suspect was last seen running away on California Street.

Watsonville police and detectives swarmed the scene and taped off a wide swath of the neighborhood.

Police have not said whether a weapon was recovered.

“The suspect was wearing a mask,” Pulido said. “The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.”

Pulido said the shooting appeared to be gang related. No vehicle was tied to the crime.

The incident is still under investigation.
