One person was shot to death Wednesday night in a suite of restaurants and businesses that includes Chipotle and Habit Burger on the 1000 block of Main Street at Auto Center Drive.
The shooting occurred at about 8:30pm, officials at the scene said.
Police got a call of shots fired and a person down on a trail between the business center and Ramsay Park at about 8:30pm.
Law enforcement officials including Watsonville police and Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene within minutes and cordoned off a huge swath of the center with yellow crime scene tape, and used a drone and a K9 officer to look for suspects.
A large group of onlookers gathered near the scene to watch.
One male was briefly detained for questioning, police said.
As of 9:30pm, a swarm of patrol cars was crowded at the intersection and in the business center.
The investigation was continuing late Wednesday.
No information about the male victim was available Wednesday night.
