APTOS—A man was stabbed during an altercation in the driveway of an Aptos home on the 5900 block of Freedom Boulevard early Monday morning.

Ashley Keehn, spokeswoman for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were dispatched to a report of a stabbing around 2am. When they arrived on the 5900 block, they found a man matching the description of the suspect in the driveway of the residence. He was detained while other deputies found the victim and  offered aid.

Through interviews deputies learned the victim and suspect were known to each other and got into a verbal altercation before the fight escalated. 

The victim suffered non-life-threatening wounds and was taken to a hospital.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Jeremiah Cardisco, was booked into jail on attempted murder charges.
