LOS BANOS — Maria Garcia Esquivel died on Monday, July 24, 2017, in Los Banos, where she had lived for 11 months. She was 88. 

She was born and raised in Olmito, Texas. In 1968, Mrs. Esquivel moved to Watsonville where she lived until she went to live with her daughter in Los Banos.

Mrs. Esquivel worked for Watsonville Canning Co. for over 25 years and made many friends there. She enjoyed her garden full of many beautiful flowers, especially her roses.  She loved being with family, especially her grandchildren.  Her church was very important to her and she attended regularly, and you could often find her sitting and listening to her favorite Christian music.

Mrs. Esquivel is survived by her three daughters, Blanca (Robert) Esquivel, Diana (Tony) Esquivel Rubalcava, and Elva Esquivel; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Yolanda Esquivel; sister-in-law, Andrea Garcia and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osbaldo Esquivel, Sr. and two sons, Osbaldo, Jr. and Oscar Esquivel.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 4, 1 p.m., at Valley Public Cemetery, 2445 East Lake Ave., Watsonville.  Mehl’s Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
