ROYAL OAKS — Maria Natalia Mendes died at her home in Royal Oaks on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017. She was 74.

Mrs. Mendes was born in Sao Jorge, Azores to Manuel and Maria Matos and emigrated to Hollister in 1968. She lived in this area for the past 10 years. She was a talented seamstress, hardworking and dedicated wife and mother. She loved her grandchildren and taking care of all her animals. She embraced life and lived it to the fullest.

Mrs. Mendes is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alberto Mendes; children, Steven (Matie) Mendes and Stacey Trindade; siblings, Jose Matos (Blandina), Manuel Matos, Diamantina Fontes (Joa), Leopoldina Azevedo (Joao), Delores Sousa (Rogerio); and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Joao Arlindo Matos (Alzira).

Private Mass of Christian Burial and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery will be held at a later date. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
