SANTA CRUZ—The Aptos High boys’ basketball team made a statement with a crushing victory at the eighth annual Aptos High/Santa Cruz Warriors NorCal Invitational on Monday afternoon. 

Senior center Jack Spinelli finished with a team-high 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, helping the Mariners to a 68-41 win over Thurgood Marshall Academic of San Francisco at Kaiser Permanente Arena. 

He was one of 11 players to score for Aptos (10-1) on the Santa Cruz Warriors’ home court.

Seniors Max Baldeh scored 11 points and Cam Saldana added eight points. Junior guard/forward Trevor Brady scored nine points for the Mariners. 

The three-day tournament continues at Kaiser Permanente as Aptos plays in the Blue Division semifinals against Pioneer (8-3) of San Jose today at 5pm .

The finals will take place Wednesday at Aptos High because the Santa Cruz Warriors will play their NBA G League regular season opener against Sioux Falls at 7pm.
