Six players on local football teams were named to the Monterey Bay League Pacific division First Team, the league recently announced.

Watsonville High senior running back Evan Delozier, senior tight end and fullback Gilbert Marinez, junior offensive lineman Andres Galvan and senior defensive back Johnny Bravo all made the team, while Pajaro Valley High senior linebacker Angel Chavez and North Monterey County High senior receiver Jerry Perez joined them.

Delozier, Marinez, Galvan and Bravo helped Watsonville record its first winning season since 2009. The Wildcatz finished 6-4 overall and took fourth in the MBL-P with a 3-3 record.

Delozier ran for close to 1,000 yards and had 13 touchdowns this season behind Marinez and Galvan.

Bravo, meanwhile, branched out to the defensive side of the football after starring on offense last season. He and the rest of the Watsonville defense helped the team get off to a hot 4-1 start.

Chavez was a bright spot for a Pajaro Valley team that went through a tough first year under new head coach Kevin Cordova.

The Grizzlies finished 1-9 overall and did not win a league game this season.

Perez was a playmaker on both sides of the ball for the Condors, who went just 2-8 this season and won only one league contest.

Alisal High senior quarterback Andrew Marquez was named the MBL-P Most Valuable Player after guiding to the Trojans to second place.

Gilroy High junior running back Joseph Barnes earned the league’s Most Valuable Offensive Player for helping a stacked Mustangs’ squad to the league crown as well as a perfect 13-0 season and the Central Coast Section Division V championship.

Christopher High senior linebacker Peyton Mitchell was named the MBL-P’s Most Valuable Defensive Player after leading the Cougars to third place in the division and the CCS D-IV title.

Gilroy defensive end Andrew Castro earned the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman of the year.

Alisal junior Isaac Duenas and Christopher senior Sam Blawski shared the league’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Watsonville had three players named to the MBL-P second team: senior lineman Adan Avalos, senior defensive back Isaiah Hernandez and junior defensive lineman Rodrigo Hernandez.

Pajaro Valley senior lineman Irepan Romero made the MBL-P Second Team for both offense and defense and senior receiver Diego Navarro also made the second team.

N.M.C. senior center Izzy Barragan was named to the MBL-P Second Team along with junior defensive back Lupe Chavez and senior defensive back Jesus Avalos.

Seventeen players were given honorable mention: Esteban Reyes, Davian Quintana, Sergio Chavarria, Juan Pinto, Jorge Maya, Dylan Vargas, Cesar Salazar, Joe Chavez, Adrian Silva, Julian Zepeda, Brayden Arnold, Spencer Gonzalez, Jaylen Carreon, Taylor Blackmore, Diego Rios, Orlando Hernandez and Angel Virgen.
