Aptos High’s Jordan Wagner, Kristen Malone and Skylar Poulos all earned a spot on the Monterey Bay League Gabilan division’s First Team, the league recently announced.

The trio helped the Mariners finish in second place in the division with a 17-7 overall record.

Aptos also earned its third straight Central Coast Section playoff berth this season.

Poulos, a senior, led the team in goals (50) and was third on the team in assists (23) and steals (37).

Malone, a junior, was tied for second on the team in goals (44) and paced the squad in assists (48) and steals (96).

Wagner, a junior, was second in goals (44), assists (36) and steals (82).

Soquel High junior Shea Salvino was named the league’s Most Valuable Player after guiding the Knights to a 23-6 overall record and the program’s seventh straight league title.

Soquel coach Ryan Chapatte was named the league’s Coach of the year.

Carmel High’s Sophia Supica earned Senior of the Year honors and her teammate Erin Trotter was given Freshman of the Year.

Salinas High’s Samantha Reich was named Sophomore of the Year.

Aptos senior keeper Kaylee Pryor and junior Kelly Taylor earned a spot on the MBL-G Second Team.

Mariners’ senior Maya Brosig made the league’s Sportsmanship Team.

BOY’S ALL-LEAGUE

Aptos senior Cameron Wagner earned a spot on the MBL-G’s First Team.

Wagner was second on the team in goals and steals and also ranked within the top five in assists.

The Mariners this season finished with a 5-15 overall record and took sixth in the MBL-G.

Santa Cruz High and Soquel shared the league championship.

Santa Cruz’s Lee Hildinger and Stevenson’s Will Morgan earned co-Most Valuable Player honors.

Soquel swept the rest of the league’s top awards. Jake Graessle and Nils Niswonger were named the co-Junior of the Year, while Luke Matthies earned Sophomore of the Year.

Stevenson coach Jim Fannin led the Pirates to a second-place finish in the division and was named the Coach of the Year.

Aptos junior Matthew Morse led the team in scoring and earned a spot on the MBL-G Second Team.

His teammate and fellow junior, Beck Escalante, was named to the league’s Sportsmanship Team.
