Narcisa Ortega died surrounded by her family at her home in Watsonville on July 15.  She was 97. 

A native of Guerrero, Mexico, she lived in Watsonville for over 40 years. 

She loved cooking and knitting blankets, doilies and tablecloths for her family. She especially loved babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a friendly person and enjoyed attending the Senior Citizen Center.

She is survived by her son, Jose Ortega, of Oregon, and daughter, Socorro Ortega Lopez, of Watsonville; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her son, Leonel.

Visitation and a rosary were held Thursday at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Valley Catholic Church with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
