California Highway Patrol officer Israel Murillo poses for a photo with Sharan Farias and family members Tuesday during the National Night Out event at Pinto Lake County Park. 

The event serves as a welcoming arena for community members to engage and get to know local law officials and local elected people, firefighters, community help organizations and many more. Meanwhile, Watsonville Police Department hosted National Night Out events in 14 locations around the city.

He also reports on a wide range of topics, including police, fire, environment, schools, the arts and events. A fifth generation Californian, Tarmo was born in the Mother Lode of the Sierra (Columbia) and has lived in Santa Cruz County since the late 1970s.
