Hundreds of people participated in the No Kings event in Watsonville in October.

No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. That’s the message for the No Kings protest Saturday in Watsonville Plaza and around the nation.

“We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it,” said organizers for Indivisible Pajaro Valley. “Join us.”

Speakers will include congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools Faris Sabbah, Senior Rabbi, Paula Marcus of Temple Beth El and Vicente Guillén Martinez, who serves as the Santa Cruz County Office of Education Student Trustee.

The two-hour event will feature live music and folkloric dance performances.

Resistance has risen sharply against President Donald Trump since he launched the war on Iran that has thus far killed over 3,220 people (including 1,398 civilians and 12 Americans), according to national news outlets.

The first six days of the war cost the U.S $12.7 billion, and now Trump has asked for an additional $200 billion to continue the war. Three U.S. fighter jets were shot down by friendly fire at a cost of $90 million each. The U.S. has thus far struck over 9,000 Iranian targets and on March 27 thousands of U.S. Marines are expected to arrive to initiate a ground war as well.

As a result of the Strait of Hormuz being heavily restricted, oil prices have drastically gone up, and gas prices around the Central Coast hover around $5.39 a gallon for regular and $7 for diesel.
