SANTA CRUZ COUNTY–The call for nominations for the 13th Annual Be the Difference Awards went out Monday.
The “Be the Difference” Awards aim to honor the individuals, groups, non-profits, and businesses who transform Santa Cruz County through volunteerism.
The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County invites all community members to share their stories of inspiration. Community members who have worked alongside a dedicated volunteer, admire the way a particular non-profit engages volunteers, or have observed a business going the extra mile for civic engagement are encouraged to fill out a nomination form.
Nominations will be accepted through Aug. 23rd.
“Each of us can think of a volunteer or organization that has positively impacted our lives,” said Volunteer Center Executive Director Karen Delaney. “The Be the Difference Awards provides the annual opportunity for the larger community to say thank-you and to share the powerful stories of our local change-makers.”
Over 500 individuals, groups, and businesses have been recognized since the inception of the event.
“Our communities thrive because volunteers are willing to share their time, talent, and dedication to make Santa Cruz County a better place to live,” Delaney said. “It is wonderful to hear fresh new stories year after year of those local folks who are dedicating themselves to the causes they care about.”
The top 50 nominees will receive a complimentary ticket and recognition at the Be the Difference Awards Lunch Gala, which annually brings together over 400 attendees. This year’s event will take place on Oct. 10th at the Cocoanut Grove, 400 Beach St., Santa Cruz from 11:30 a.m. t0 1:30 p.m.
Selected nominees in each category will receive special recognition through film and publicity in partnership with KION-CBS.
