SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS — One person is dead after a driver failed to maintain control of their vehicle, resulting in the vehicle overturning and striking a tree late Saturday night.
The California Highway Patrol indicated the driver was suspected to be intoxicated while driving northbound on Soquel San Jose Rd., south of Old Turnpike Rd. in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Both the driver and passenger sustained major injuries as a result of the crash, and were transported to Valley Medical Center in San Jose. The passenger later succumbed to their injuries.
The collision is still under investigation.
