A Watsonville man was arrested on suspicion of DUI Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash.
Watsonville Police officer Bobby Rodriguez said the suspect was driving a red Chevy Silverado pickup westbound on Martinelli Street around 4:30pm. Witnesses told police that the driver ran a stop sign at Brewington Avenue, and plowed broadside into a black GMC Yukon Denali SUV driven by a Watsonville man. He had just pulled away from a stop sign at Martinelli Street and was attempting to continue south on Brewington when he was struck.
The impact heaved the SUV across the intersection where it came to a rest in the opposite direction it was traveling.
Sgt. Brian Fulgoni said the SUV driver suffered minor injuries.
After failing a field sobriety test, the Silverado driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Fulgoni said, and taken to Santa Cruz County Jail.
The incident is still under investigation.
So these DUI drivers are now anonymous? Why is their name not listed RP?
Good question, Katherine! When Tarmo covered the incident, the police had not yet released the suspect’s name. – Todd
