The Pacific Coast Athletic League, the newly formed super league made up of the 30-plus members from the Monterey Bay League and Mission Trail Athletic League, released its division placements for the 2018-19 winter sports season on Thursday.
Boys and girls basketball were both split into five divisions, boys and girls soccer were split in four divisions and wrestling found its home with three.
League commissioner Tim McCarthy said nothing is official, but expected the Central Coast Section to rate the boys soccer divisions A-B-B-C and the girls B-B-C-C.
In wrestling, McCarthy said, the PCAL would send its top eight wrestlers in each weight class to CCS.
Here is how the PCAL will look in the winter:
BOYS BASKETBALL
• Gabilan: Alisal, Carmel, Monterey, Monte Vista Christian, Palma and Salinas.
• Mission: Christopher, Alvarez, Pacific Grove, San Benito, Seaside and St. Francis.
• Cypress: Gilroy, North Monterey County, North Salinas, Pajaro Valley, Soledad and Stevenson.
• Santa Lucia: Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Marina, Oakwood and Watsonville.
• Arroyo: Anzar, Ceiba, Kirby, Pacific Collegiate School, Pacific Point, Trinity and York.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
• Gabilan: Gilroy, M.V.C., North Salinas, Notre Dame-Salinas, San Benito and Seaside.
• Mission: Alisal, Christopher, Alvarez, N.M.C., Salinas and Watsonville.
• Cypress: Carmel, King City, Pacific Grove, Soledad, Stevenson and St. Francis.
• Santa Lucia: Gonzales, Greenfield, Monterey, P.C.S., Pajaro Valley and Santa Catalina.
