WATSONVILLE — Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.), announced Monday that five Central Coast arts programs received federal grants totaling $115,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Pajaro Valley Arts received a $15,000 federal grant to support the exhibition “Hablamos Juntos/Together We Speak” and related activities including the development of grade-specific curriculum materials, an interactive virtual gallery, and a mobile app as well as activities such as artist talks and school field trips.
The Arts Council of Santa Cruz County received a $25,000 federal grant to support their Create, Support, and Sponsor Grant Programs.
The Cabrillo Music Festival received a $25,000 federal grant to support the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music.
The Regents of the University of California at Santa Cruz received two federal grants, one $25,000 federal grant to support production and post-production costs for a documentary by Jennifer Taylor, and one $25,000 federal grant to support production and post-production costs for an animated documentary by Academy Award nominated filmmakers Dee Hibbert-Jones and Nomi Talisman.
“These grants will help advance numerous creative arts projects on the Central Coast,” Panetta said. “I am glad to see the NEA provide this funding for essential arts programs in our communities. I will continue to fight for the funding of the arts not just on the Central Coast but across the country.”
