Pajaro Valley junior Julie Che and Watsonville junior Camila Cardenas were both named to the Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division First Team.
Che, an outside hitter, led the Grizzlies to a fourth place finish in the league’s third-toughest division with a 7-7 record.
Cardenas, an opposite for the Wildcatz, was a bright spot for a team that placed seventh in the PCAL-M.
Che, according to the stats kept on MBayPreps, led the team in kills (262), digs (109) and aces (89) for the second straight season.
Che 14 times reached double digit kills for Pajaro Valley, which for the second year completed the season with a 13-14 overall record.
Teammate Kyla Salazar, a senior setter, made the PCAL-C Second Team after dishing out 453 assists.
Watsonville’s senior setter Jasmine Jimenez also earned a spot on the division’s second team.
Undefeated PCAL-C champion Gilroy produced the division’s Most Valuable Player, Maggie Brinkman, and Defensive Player of the Year, Ella Blank.
Soledad, the runner-up in the PCAL-C, had the division’s Offensive Player of the Year: Olivia Fale.
Pajaro Valley won a share of the PCAL-C Elgie Bellizio Award, for the best team sportsmanship. They split the honor with Soledad.
Three locals were named to the Sportsmanship Team: Alyssa Torres (North Monterey County), Devyn Bugayong (Watsonville) and Isabella Langarcia (Pajaro Valley).
