Put on by Fiestas Patrias for the 33rd year, the celebration featured numerous bands, food, information tables and folkloric dance performances. Oscar Rios of Fiestas Patrias and founder of the event said the day not only marked Mexico’s historic independence from Spain, but also was a way of “honoring our planet.” He added, “We want to raise our consciousness about the health of our planet and that starts with each one of us.” Photo: Tarmo Hannula/The Pajaronian
