WATSONVILLE — Watsonville Police on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly fired several shots into a vehicle on Clifford Avenue Wednesday afternoon and stole a gun during a burglary on that street.

Andre Lopez, 22, is also suspected of a burglary on Crescent Drive and a parole violation.

He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

According to Watsonville Police Sgt. Mike Ridgway, the suspect was walking east on the 100 block of Clifford Avenue near Claremont Avenue just before noon when he took out a gun and fired about six shots.

A Jeep Cherokee was struck about four times, and one of the bullets went through the window of a residence.

No injuries were reported.

At about 3 p.m., a resident reported that a suspect had broken into her home, which was several houses away from the shooting.  That suspect matched the description as the suspect in the earlier shooting.  Officers responded to the area, and after searching several backyards they arrested Lopez at 4:22 p.m.
