A search-and-rescue operation for a 15-year-old male, missing since Wednesday morning in Watsonville, is underway in the Laken area off of Holohan Road.

About dozen search and rescue members were joined by nine Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies at a command post set up on Grimmer Lane early Thursday morning where some of the youth’s belongings were found on a dirt road in the remote agricultural setting.

Nicholas Magana-Zamora was last seen around 11am Wednesday leaving his residence in the area of Laken Drive and East Lake Avenue.

“We are searching for a juvenile who is at risk,” said Lt. Patrick Dimick. “We’re throwing all our resources into this and hoping for public help in locating this individual.”

The search includes drones, K9 officers and “a lot of volunteers,” Dimick said.

Nicholas is approximately 5’5″ with brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a gray shirt, green jacket, blue jeans, and riding a multi-colored mountain bike.

Anyone with information about Nicholas’s whereabouts is asked to call 831.471.1121.
