The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has identified a man wanted in connection with the attempted murder of two people that occurred on Sunday Feb. 9.
Ramon Valdes Carrasco, 23, is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 150 pounds with black hair, green eyes and facial hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing. He is believed to be unhoused and frequents the Greenfield area.
Anyone who sees Carrasco is asked not to approach him, as he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
At about 11:30am, deputies and Greenfield Police officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim at a homeless encampment in the agricultural fields just south of Elm Avenue and 4th Street.
There, they found a victim who was suffering from non-life-threatening wounds. About 15 minutes later, dispatchers received a second call from a victim reporting that a subject had pointed a gun at them in the area of Elm Avenue and 4th Street. That victim also reported a second victim of a gunshot wound.
A second person suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was found in the agricultural fields south of Elm Avenue and 3rd Street. Both victims were transported to a trauma center for treatment of their injuries.
Carrasco was not located despite an extensive search of the area by Greenfield and Soledad police, a California Highway Patrol helicopter, Cal Fire’s law enforcement division and= Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies.
