Boys
Max Arce (Sr.), Monte Vista Christian: The powerful Mustang hybrid running back found his way into the end zone three times in goal line situations to help lead the football team to a 36-19 victory over Greenfield in non-league action Oct. 3.
Arce scored a pair of touchdowns in the opening stanza, and a 7-yard TD in the fourth quarter that gave the Mustangs a comfortable lead at 29-19.
Arce finished with 44 rushing yards and three scores on 14 carries. He also forced and recovered a fumble on defense, and recorded one tackle for a loss of yards.
Next up, MVC (3-2) begins Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division-North play at North Monterey County (1-4) on Friday at 7:30pm.
Girls
Peyton Orradre (Sr.), St. Francis: The Shark outside hitter last week tallied a total of 31 kills and 25 digs to help lead the girls’ volleyball to three consecutive wins.
Orradre got it started with 15 kills and 14 digs in St. Francis’ three-set win over Seaside in PCAL Cypress Division play Sept. 30. She followed up with nine kills and 11 digs in a non-league victory against Mount Madonna on Oct. 1.
Orradre contributed seven kills in a three-set win over North Salinas in league play on Oct. 2. Next up, St. Francis (12-3, 6-1) hosts North Monterey County on Wednesday at 5pm.
