Boys
Mathew Silva (Sr.), Watsonville: The Wildcat two-way player was a difference maker in the second half for Watsonville’s football team in their 24-20 win over Pacific Grove on Sept. 26.
Silva recorded three interceptions on defense for the Wildcatz, who rallied back from a 10-point deficit. He also finished with a team-best 171 rushing yards and one touchdown on 15 carries.
Next up, Silva and the ‘Catz (2-2) play at King City on Friday at 7:30pm.
Girls
Aaliyah Arellano (So.), Watsonville: The Wildcat starting quarterback accounted for nine total touchdowns in three consecutive wins for Watsonville’s flag football team last week.
Arellano tossed four touchdown passes and hauled in a pair of receiving TDs in the ‘Catz’s 39-0 blowout victory over Alvarez in non-league play Sept. 23.
She also threw the game-winning scores against Carmel and Hollister in Pacific Coast Athletic League Gabilan Division action on Sept. 22 and 24, respectively.
Next up, Arellano and the ‘Catz (5-6, 3-6) host Monterey on Wednesday at 5:45pm.
