WATSONVILLE — Pajaro Valley Unified School District’s headquarters building is for sale, and the district’s board of trustees on Wednesday will hear an update of plans to possibly purchase it.

According to PVUSD Superintendent Michelle Rodriguez, the owners are selling the building at 294 Green Valley Road.

It was not clear Monday what the sale price is for the four-story building. Rodriguez declined to comment, citing ongoing negotiations with the owners.

Also unclear is whether the district would move to another facility, should it not buy the Towers.

“We are evaluating all options,” Rodriguez said.

Built in 1968, the property includes a 7.79-acre lot. It is also home to Pacific Coast Charter School and Watsonville/Aptos/Santa Cruz Adult Education. It is the former home of Watsonville Community Hospital.

Rodriguez said that purchasing the building could be a financial benefit for the district, which currently rents the building.

“The board and I continue to look for ways to make the budget go as far as it can, and to look for things that are either cost neutral or cost beneficial,” she said.

Also on the closed session agenda is a discussion on “workforce housing,”

The board will discuss both matters in closed session, meaning it will not be open to the public. The next public board of trustees meeting is Jan. 24.
