Pajaro Valley Unified School District has hired a new public information officer.
Alejandro Chávez will serve as the intermediary between the public and media, and the district.
According to a Facebook post, Chávez brings more than two decades of experience in public service, nonprofit management and community engagement.
Most recently, he was executive director of the Salinas United Business Association, where he worked with more than 500 businesses.
He also served as analyst and chief of staff for a Monterey County supervisor, and as an athletic director for Madonna del Sasso School in Salinas. In addition, he was Community Development Director for United Farmworkers of America.
He earned a BA in history from UC Santa Cruz, and an AA in art from Merced College.
“I am really excited about the position, and I’m looking forward to working with the community, and being here in Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley Unified School District,” he told The Pajaronian.
