James Dineen (Watsonville Police Department)

The Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against a registered sex offender who recently exposed himself to a woman in Watsonville.

James Dineen, 27, is accused of exposing himself to a woman walking near Center Street while parked in his gray Toyota Camry, Watsonville Police said.

The victim provided Watsonville police with the suspect’s license plate number, which was entered into the department’s Flock Safety Cameras. The cameras alerted police that Dineen was in Watsonville on Monday night. Shortly after, he was pulled over and arrested on the 500 block of Green Valley Road.

Dineen, an Aptos resident, was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for aggravated indecent exposure. He has a history of committing similar crimes in the area, and WPD suspects there could be more victims.

Dineen is not listed on the state database of sex offenders. He was not listed as being in custody on Sunday.

Anyone who may have encountered Dineen, and believes they may be a victim, is asked to call Detective Collin Travers at 831.768.3321.
