It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard Dennis Imlay, 78, of Watsonville, CA on Tuesday December 18, 2018.
Dennis, along with his surviving brother Edward Imlay, were born and raised in Santa Cruz. After their father, they were the second generation owners of Better Egg Co. in Watsonville. Together, they built the company into what is now Better Brand Foods and operated it from the early 1960’s to 2002. Upon retiring, they handed down the legacy of their business to third and fourth generation Imlay’s, who continue to run the business today.
With quiet strength, Dennis led his business and family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Marie Fanucchi Imlay; his children Peter (Nicki) Imlay, Dyan Imlay (Nabeel) Bahu, Ryan Imlay and Joe Imlay; his grandchildren Jayci (Kris) Rucker and Jacob Imlay, Emily, Maxwell and Mason Bahu and his first great grandson Brayden Rucker.
A celebration of his life and legacy will be held at the Corralitos Community Center, 35 Browns Valley Road, Corralitos, CA on January 19, 2019 at 1:00pm. A somber service wasn’t his style, Dennis always loved a good party, and that’s what we will give him! In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to Ronald McDonald House of the Bay Area, 520 Sand Hill Street Palo Alto, CA 94304.
He was our rock, may he rest in peace.
Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
