Rigoberto Madrigal died peacefully in Santa Cruz on Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was 80.

Mr. Madrigal was born on July 18, 1937 in Mexico. He migrated from Coalcoman, Michoacán in 1967 to Watsonville where he began his career as a farm foreman with Mellody Ranch and soon after his family joined him. He was very respected by many of those in his farm community. He retired after dedicating 30 years to Mellody Ranch. Mr. Rigoberto enjoined spending time with his grandchildren and walking the levee.

He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Madrigal; children, Salvador, Ignacio, Sergio, Eddie, Beto and Elizabeth Madrigal; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Clara Carlota Mendoza and Edith Madrigal.

Rosary to be held at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville on Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. Mass will be at St. Patrick’s Church, 721 Main St., Watsonville on Friday, April 6 at 10 a.m. The burial ceremony will be held at Valley Public Cemetery, 2431 East Lake Ave., Watsonville, directly following Mass.
