Rosalina Silva de Bobadilla, a longtime resident of Watsonville, passed away on January 31, 2025. She was 77.

Rosalina was the last of four children born to Eladio Silva and Amor Vega, on December 24, 1947. She spent her youth being a pillar for her family, the backbone that held them together through grief and joy. She was a pioneer, one of the first to immigrate as a young woman from her small hometown of Huacao, Michoacan, Mexico to California, settling in Watsonville in the early 1970’s.

Once here, she met and married Jose Bobadilla, and they had three children. She proudly worked picking strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Her goal was to provide for her family and her mother. Her pride and joy were her family, and she took in her mother and orphaned nephew who was more like her brother, until their untimely deaths.

She enjoyed volunteering and attending her children’s school productions. She also loved gardening – she could nurture any plant to grow to its most beautiful self. She was also a great cook, her “sazon” admired by all who got to enjoy her cooking, particularly her pozole morado, which was her specialty that she tended to from her garden to her table. She decompressed from the day by watching “novelas” and spending time cuddling with her pets Binx, Bebo, and Maco, who will miss her dearly.

Rosalina is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jose Bobadilla, her children Mayra, Bethsy, and Jose Eladio (Vanessa) Bobadilla, her sister Teresa Silva, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own. She was preceded in death by her parents Eladio and Amor, her siblings Neftali and Celia Silva, and her nephew Napoleon Bernabe.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm, at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
