Rudy Y. Kawata passed away February 27, 2018 at Watsonville Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83.
He was born in San Jose, California, the youngest of eight children. During the war his family was sent to Heart Mountain internment camp in Wyoming. After the war his family lived in Nebraska for several years before returning to California.
Rudy worked for many years driving a truck for Central Coast Trucking and California Motor Express and for Well-Pict Strawberry. He retired in 1999 and enjoyed gardening, playing golf, traveling and going to casinos.
He is survived by his wife Mabel; and two sons Dirk Kawata and Russell Kawata as well as two grandsons Tyler Kawata and Cole Kawata.
The family asks that memorial gifts be made to a charity of their choice.
