SANTA CRUZ — A Santa Cruz man was arrested Thursday for allegedly inappropriately filming female high-school students during a swim meet at Santa Cruz High School.

Marc Lawrence, 21, was charged with annoying children, disorderly conduct for loitering in a public toilet and trespassing on school grounds.

Further charges may surface as the investigation continues, police said.

He was not in custody Thursday afternoon, jail records showed.

According to Santa Cruz Police Lt. Warren Barry, school staff saw Lawrence filming female students during a swim meet. Coaches and the school athletic director immediately notified the SCPD school resource officer.

When the police arrived and detained Lawrence, they determined he was filming female students on the pool deck while he was inside a portable toilet, Barry said.

Investigators later determined that Lawrence was filming younger girls in various public areas throughout the city of Santa Cruz.

The Santa Cruz Police department believes there may be other victims.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Williams at 420-5839.
