Sheriff’s Office searches for information on Hwy 1 shooting

WATSONVILLE—The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in gathering information on a shooting that occurred Monday around 1:20pm on Highway 1 in Watsonville.

While the victim was traveling southbound in a black 2008 Lexus sedan on Highway 1 near the Main Street exit, someone fired a gun at their vehicle. The round hit a rear window, narrowly missing the victim, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect vehicle, which was also traveling southbound, was a dark gray 2015-2017 Honda Civic sedan with dark tinted windows. The suspect continued driving southbound on Highway 1 toward Monterey County following the shooting.
