CCS Track & Field Semifinals: Ruiz, Salazar, Zlatunich lead locals into championships

Heart, resolve and courage, Ruiz showcased all of the above while punching her ticket to next week’s CCS Championships back at Gilroy High. She took fourth in her star-studded heat, which featured a trio of highly-decorated seniors: Rebecca Hasser, Kaylah Grant and Mari Friedman.

CCS Softball: Watsonville advances to Open semifinals

A handful of clutch hits, a gritty pitching performance and a couple of lucky bounces in key moments. That was the winning formula for No. 3 Watsonville in its 5-1 triumph over No. 6 Los Gatos High in the quarterfinals of the CCS Open Division playoffs on Saturday.

CCS Baseball: St. Francis set to play Palma in D-III Semis

St. Francis (19-7) will play No. 4 Palma High on Wednesday at Washington Park in Santa Clara for a spot in the D-III section final. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
