SANTA CRUZ — A Santa Cruz man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed another man at Depot Park, a spot heavily attended by families engaged in soccer matches and other activities.

Santa Cruz Police Lt. Warren Barry said Lorenzo Alex Silva, 30, who is currently on probation in Santa Cruz through Post Release Community Supervision, was identified as the person who stabbed a parent while they were with their child while at the park.

The victim reported being at Depot Park on Jan. 8 with their child who was playing with another child. The victim was confronted by Silva, who inquired if they knew a female who was also at the park. The victim reported Silva did not believe them and he swung his arm at the victim, striking them.

Silva fled the area on foot. Shortly thereafter, the victim realized they had been stabbed once in the arm, and was driven to the hospital for treatment. After being treated the family went online and identified Silva through online booking photos, and notified police, according to Barry.

After reviewing video and interviewing everyone involved, Silva was located, interviewed, and booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
