WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville mother whose 12-year-old son died from cancer two years ago has now suffered another loss.

An unknown suspect stole her wallet, which contained irreplaceable photos of the boy. Now she is hoping the community can help her get the photos back.

Police say the victim was parked on Harkins Slough Road when the thief took the wallet from her vehicle.

“She doesn’t care about the hundreds of dollars the suspect managed to withdraw from her bank accounts,” Watsonville Police spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said. “All she cares about is recovering some of the last memories she has of her son.”

Investigators have found surveillance photos from an ATM machine that show the suspect wearing a bright safety vest and a hat that appears to have a Coca-Cola logo.

The suspect also has a tattoo that possibly reads “Daisy.” Police believe the man drives a small white pickup truck.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Juan Sanchez at 768-3358. Tipsters can also call Watsonville Police Department at 471-1151, the anonymous tip line at 768-3544, or the Watsonville Police Department’s Investigations Bureau at 768-3352.
